Contact details in chat

2 Ask a question in a new conversation

The empty conversation carries a short notice that messages are checked for contact details, and a prompt to ask about the watch 1. Sofia types her question in the message field 2 and taps Send 3; it appears in the thread as sent, at 18:42.

3 Daniel answers

Daniel opens the conversation from the unread dot in his inbox 1 (in the app: from the push or the Inbox tab), reads the question, types the answer in the message field 2 and taps Send 3. Sofia’s question and his answer are in the thread, his marked sent.

4 Sofia says she will think about the price

The conversation goes on from 21 Oct on 26 Oct. Sofia types in the message field 1 that she will think about the price, and taps Send 2.

5 Daniel’s phone number is blocked

Daniel offers a lower price if they settle directly and writes his phone number. The check outside his device catches it: his message is shown as blocked, not as an ordinary sent bubble, and the notice under it 1 tells him why — contact details are not allowed in chat. Sofia receives nothing and sees no trace of it.

6 Daniel asks to settle outside the app

He tries again without the number: he types in the message field 1 that they should finish this outside the app, and taps Send 2. It holds no phone number, email address or link, so the check lets it through and it is delivered to Sofia.

7 Sofia opens the menu to report

Daniel’s new message reaches Sofia: he wants to take the sale off the marketplace. She taps the menu button 1 in the top bar of the conversation, sees Report conversation and Block Daniel Weber, and taps Report conversation 2.

8 Report the conversation

The report sheet opens over the conversation. Sofia types an optional note 1 and taps Send report 2. The sheet closes with a confirmation that the report went to the moderation team; it carries her name, and she is told later when it is handled.

9 Sofia opens the menu to block

The report is in the moderation queue; the confirmation is still on the screen. Sofia opens the menu again 1 and taps Block Daniel Weber 2.

10 Confirm the block

A confirmation says that the conversation will close and the two cannot reach each other in chat. Sofia taps Block 1.

11 The conversation is closed

The thread now ends in “This conversation is closed” 1 and the message field is gone. The conversation stays readable, and the inbox keeps it, marked closed.

12 Elena works the report

On the admin web Elena opens the report from the chat moderation queue 1, grouped by the reported user: Daniel Weber, 1 report, blocked-message history 1. She reads the whole conversation 2, with his phone number shown as blocked, chooses Warn the user 3, writes the reason 4 and taps Close report 5. The report moves to reviewed, then closed with the decision, audited with the reason.

13 Daniel gets the warning

The decision goes out. Daniel gets the warning with the reason 1: on the phone as a push, on the website in the notifications of the header.

14 Sofia is told the report was handled

Sofia learns that her report was handled 1, with no detail about Daniel. No contact details were ever delivered in the chat.

15 Daniel’s closed thread

Alternative: Daniel opens the conversation from his inbox 1 (in the app: from the Inbox tab). The thread is closed in neutral wording 2, with no sign of who blocked or reported, and no message field.

16 The seller cannot be contacted

Alternative: Daniel had blocked Sofia before she wrote. She taps Message the seller 1, and a notice says that this seller cannot be contacted; no conversation opens.
